Not only young consumers book their holidays online.
In the last winter season there has been an enormous increase of internet bookings (one third of all trips). The reason for it could be the economic and financial crisis.
The study refers to an examination of 20.000 private German households about their travel behaviour, executed from the GfK-Travelscope. Even in Italy cases of fraudulent subscription The European Consumer Centre (ECC) warns from cases of fraudulent subscription on the Internet in Italy. In German-speaking countries these cost traps are already widespread. These traps are websites that offer free programs (such as Skype, Google Earth, Adobe Reader, etc.) for download, but not for free. As the programs are counted among the so-called “freeware” (free software), the consumers supposes that the download is free. The use of these sites is not free, you must fill out a registration form for the download and thus acquire a subscription for several years. Our advice is to always read with attention the small print before you disclose your personal data in Internet. Should you nevertheless fall into a subscription trap, don’t be intimidated by the warnings and threats of the website operator, but contact the European Consumer Centre of Bolzano and enforce your rights.
Wi-Fi free from 1st of January - the norms of the Pisanu law have been dropped. Wi-Fi is free from 1st of January: After several years of negotiations almost all obligations of the public W-Lan Hotspots of the Pisano decree from 2005 have been abolished. The operators are no longer committed to register the users and the traffic.
Internet Points have to ask further on for a license at the bursary until 31st of December 2011.
Firms, like hotels, bars, restaurants etc, which are offering an internet connection as extra service are not affected. These enterprises are allowed to offer this service (Wi-fi, Wireless, etc) further on for their customers free of charge.
Because of this law, enacted in 2005, many public and private associations have come to the conclusion not to offer an internet access for their guests and members.
With the new decree this will likely change again.
The new law comes into effect in 2 months. Minister Maroni is going to keep some safety regulations, especially for public internet points. The police would be able to monitor the internet access of certain providers for a certain period and for a certain purpose, like it is done in case of telephone surveillance.

Positive forecasts for online advertising
Already in 2011 the online advertising will surpass both television and print as most important advertising medium.The growth of Internet advertising will remain above average and by 2014 it will account for one third of all ad spending. In the future, consumers will invest more money on the Internet as for other advertising media.
The auditing and consulting services organisation PwC expects in their “German Entertainment and Media Outlook 2010-2014”, that the share of online advertising will increase from 22% in 2009 to 32% in 2014.
Due to the advance of the mobile Internet with attractive devices, fast mobile networks and cheap flat rates, consumers spend more time online. This trend can also be seen in advertising budgets.
The Internet dominates also the consumer spending. In 2014 the expenses for Internet will amount to 11.3 billion euro, followed by books (10.3 billion euro) and television (9.7 billion euro).
USA – every 4th page request concerns Facebook The social networks are the most asked in Web.
According to statistics of the market researcher Hitwise, Facebook is leading the internet use in the USA of all page requests of the US-Users in the second half of November with 24,27%. Youtube is far behind on the second place with 6,39%, followed by Google with 5,32% and Yahoo-Search 0,68%. The mobile internet use is excluded in this statistics.
Also obvious is the number of page visitors, even if it doesn’t demonstrate such big differences compared to the page requests. Facebook is again leading with 10,28% followed by Google with 7,21% and Youtube 3,19%. The running battle between Facebook and Google continues. Gmail has been deleted from the list of E-Mail-Providers importing user contacts.
